- Affiliation
I am not affiliated in any way with NASA, JPL, or Cornell University. All the work on this site has be produced on an purely amateur basis in my spare time.
- Copyright
The raw images provided by NASA is copyright free. The images on this webpage however have taken a great deal of time to produce and are an original work which I claim copyright on. If you want to use or reproduce any of the images here please contact me first.
- Colour
It is important to note that these images are produced from the raw jpeg images released by NASA/JPL which have been contrast/brightness stretched before posting on the web and that no calibration files are included. This means that although I try to make the colours look 'realistic' they should in no way be regarded as 'true colour' (i.e. how it would look if you were actually there) or anything even close. To see some approximate true colour as a comparison, go to the official Pancam site
- Scientific Use
In addition to the note above about colour, these images are made by using complex image stitching software which may have distorted the images in all sorts of unrealistic ways. The images are also made using jpeg images of the raw data (and jpeged again for posting here) which may result in any number of unreal artifacts in the images. For these reasons they are totally unsuitable for any scientific purpose.
